Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office About Us Skip to main content About Us Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office (EDT), within the Office of the Governor, is tasked with marketing and promoting the state of Texas as a premier business location and travel destination. Under Governor Abbott’s leadership, our office works closely with regional and community partners to ensure that Texas remains the top state for business in the country. EDT works side-by-side with the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TxEDC) to market and promote Texas nationally and internationally as the best place for businesses to locate and expand. TxEDC is a public-private partnership, an independently funded and operated 501(c)(3), whose work is made possible through the support of a broad range of private and community investors throughout the state. TxEDC promotes Texas through a robust program of activities which highlight Texas’ superior business advantages to corporate decision-makers and site selection consultants. Business Development Business Development focuses on the creation of new jobs and investment through domestic and international business recruitment, expansion and retention; increasing Texas exports; and small business development and entrepreneurship. Business & Industry The Business & Industry team promotes Texas as the premier business investment destination and assists with the expansion and relocation of companies to the state. The team coordinates the site selection process and connects businesses with the resources needed to be successful in Texas. The team assists in identifying and locating resources, programs and contacts necessary for businesses and communities to foster the growth, development and retention of industries and industry clusters in Texas. The Industry Recruitment Specialists serve as liaisons to industry allies statewide, including the private sector, trade and professional organizations and other local and regional economic development stakeholders. Regional Representatives are located in five regions across Texas and work directly with the local governments and stakeholders to increase economic development capacity. Map: Regional Offices & Contact Information Business Assistance Business Assistance serves domestic and international businesses of all sizes, interested in doing business in Texas. The team is responsible for strengthening the competitiveness of Texas’ industries by promoting international business and trade , small business advocacy , entrepreneurial support and assisting with permitting, licensing and regulatory compliance . Business Assistance also supports the State of Texas Mexico Office , which seeks to help Mexican companies enter the Texas market or aid Texas companies looking to do business in Mexico, the State of Texas Taiwan Office , which seeks to help Asian companies enter the Texas m
